Al Maktoum Road, also known as Al Maktoum Street was built in 1963 when Al Maktoum Bridge spanning across Dubai Creek was constructed. It was the most important road in the city even though it was only one lane in the direction. These include Land Department, Dubai Municipality and The Water and Electricity Company. The street was also home to the first high school for boys – Dubai Secondary School.
