They also handle the utility bills. To do this in an organised manner, they provide a range of different services. This includes the following:
- Generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity, water, and gas throughout the emirate.
- Registering/activating an online SEWA account.
- Deactivating an online SEWA account.

SEWA Move-In Residential Request
You can get SEWA connections via the website and mobile application.
For the buyer:
When you need to activate water, electricity and gas connections in your Sharjah property, the following details are needed.
- A copy of your Emirates ID
- Copy of Tenancy Contract or Trade Licence Number
- Email address and UAE mobile number
- Desired username and password
- Clear your previous bills
- Pay the SEWA deposit (depending on the registered property)
For the tenants:
You need to activate water, electricity and gas even when you rent a property in Sharjah. For that, these are the requirements.
- Tenants must visit SEWA service centres to submit an application to get an SEWA connection
- A copy of the Emirates ID
- The UAE nationals and locals have to sign an undertaking form
- Tenants also have to pay a security deposit upon which their tenancy contract will be approved
- Get the tenancy contract attested by Sharjah Municipality
- Submit the attested tenancy contract, signed by the landlord and tenant
For the landlord:
The owner of the property can also get a new SEWA connection for the property. The process is the same as that of the tenant. The landlord will have to submit all the necessary documents and complete all the paperwork.
SEWA Move-In Commercial Request
A commercial setup can also request a new water and electricity connection in Sharjah. The SEWA connection request for commercial properties is a 2-step process and is as follows.
Step 1:
Provide:
- A copy of Emirates ID
- Copy of Tenancy Contract or Trade Licence Number
- Survey report of the property by the Economic Department
- Original and approved Tenancy Contract that is signed by the landlord and the tenant
Once all of the above is done, we will move to the next step.
Step 2:
- Submit an application at the SEWA customer service centre
- Pay the SEWA security deposit (depending on the registered property)
- The service agreement should be executed as stated on the tenancy contract
- Attest the tenancy contract from Sharjah Municipality
- Proof of last paid bill. (If it has been more than 10 days since the date of issue, a new metre reading must be taken.)
- Submit the attested tenancy contract at the concerned SEWA service centre
SEWA Move-In Customer Request (Government)
Government entities can also request to get SEWA connection. It requires the following documents.
- Ownership deed
- Original tenancy agreement for the registered property
- Get an NOC from the local or federal government confirming your services
- Submit an application at the nearby SEWA customer service centre with the above-mentioned documents
- Fulfil all the terms of the service agreement
- The application and services will be confirmed by the local or federal government
- The account should be present in the accounts system of the local or federal government
- The owner will get a confirmation of SEWA move-in connection request

Getting a SEWA connection in Sharjah requires you to
– Submit a connection activation form at the SEWA Customer Happiness Centre.
– They will state the required documents.
– Submit the required documents along with SEWA security deposit.
