Founded by Professor Rafia Ghubash in the 1950s, the museum’s very name, ‘Bait Al Banat’ translates to ‘The Girls’ House’. This represents the participation of women in shaping the UAE’s culture and society.

2. Fatima Bint Al Zeina Children’s Corner

This corner is a tribute to Fatima Bint Al Zeina, who taught children at her home in Gold Souk, nearby the sea. She taught until the 1960s when she became one of the last traditional teachers of Dubai’s Quranic schools.

Fatima Bint Al Zeina Children’s Corner is primarily for children who are art lovers and wish to learn about traditions and culture. It motivates them to participate in the projects and inspires them to become the future custodians of this rich heritage.

3. Um Al Duwais Perfume and Gift Shop

Gallery 2 of the museum was created to collaborate with regional and international museums, galleries, organisations, and artists worldwide. The first exhibition held at this gallery was about Sheikh Zayed’s women empowerment programme.

5. Diwan Ousha Bint Khalifa Al Suwidi Room

This is the special hall of the museum, named after Ousha Bint Khalifa. She was a well-known poet, recognised as ‘The Girl of Arabs’. This part of the museum displays her contributions by telling the story of her life, poetic experience, and achievements through poems and images.

6. Women’s Studies Centre

The Women’s Studies Centre is a research centre located on the second floor of the Bait Al Banat Women’s Museum. It features a variety of documents for studies on women in the UAE and other regions of the Arab world.
